Dr. B.R. Shetty, chairman of UAE Exchange and Unimoni, has contributed Rs20 million (Dh1 million) to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. Hundreds of staff from Unimoni’s wide network across Kerala has come forward to aid in rescue and rehabilitation operations in the state, Dr Shetty said, offering food and medicines to rehabilitation centres.
Dr B.R. Shetty, chairman of Unimoni & UAE Exchange, has contributed R20 million to the chief minister’s fund. He also said hundreds of staff from the Unimoni’s wide network of offices across Kerala have come forward for relief efforts.
Abu Dhabi based philanthropists Dr BR Shetty and Dr CR Shetty launched the Dr BR and CR Shetty foundation in Bengaluru on July 30 coinciding with the Year of Zayed being celebrated this year in UAE and globally. Headquartered in Bengaluru, the foundation’s work will focus in the areas of education, health, poverty alleviation and community empowerment. Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were signed announcing partnership with leading non-governmental organizations (NGOs) including the Akshaya Patra foundation, Wockhardt foundation, Isha Vidhya, Selco foundation, Mentric Training Consulting and Indian Cancer Society and to implement the programs.
